The Cancun News and Media Marketplace provided an opportunity for representatives from Cancun's top hotels, attractions and associations to meet with travel journalists from the New York City metro area on an individual, personalized basis.

Prior to the event, writers from New York City, Boston, Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia were invited and reminded to visit the event's official website, http://cancun.mediaroomshowcase.com, which was designed to allow the media to:

• Register for attendance

• Book and secure interview appointments

• Download the Cancun Convention & Visitors Bureau's news releases and media kit

• Contact event representatives

• Join the Cancun CVB's press release distribution list

• Download story ideas and photos

The "Event Participants" page was an evolving resource that was continually updated with each participant's descriptions, logos, representative names, and story ideas, which were later separated into their own webpage for easier access.

Once underway, the Marketplace allowed registered journalists to meet and mingle with Cancun's representatives via their pre-booked 20-minute interviews and ongoing conference sessions, where the media took advantage of the chance to ask questions, take photos, get contact information and collect collateral materials. This was followed by a Margarita cocktail hour and sit-down luncheon. Press kits of each event participant were distributed to the media in CD format via personalized event CD wallets.

The evening's Cancun Lounge cocktail party allowed journalists and representatives to mingle in a more relaxed atmosphere from the venue's rooftop, providing a sweeping view of New York City's sunset with soft music and hors d'oeuvres.
